Biography

Teaching is a second career for Cherie Bonder Goldman. Graduating from Georgetown University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Japanese and a teaching minor, and then from Stanford University in 1995 with a Master of Arts in East Asian studies, Goldman intended to become a Japanese language teacher. Unfortunately, jobs proved scarce, landing her in advertising, first strategizing for Toyota at Saatchi & Saatchi and then for Clorox at DDB.

Yet, all along  Goldman knew where her heart had always been. In 2004, she moved to Savannah, Georgia near family and earned her Master of Arts in early childhood education at Armstrong Atlantic State University when her son entered Kindergarten. Now in her 12th year with the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools, Goldman currently teaches English to Speakers of Other Languages at Hesse K-8 School in Savannah, Georgia.

In 2019, Goldman earned her Education Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Mercer University. She also holds Gifted, ESOL, and Coaching Endorsements. At Hesse, Goldman serves on the Leadership Team and chairs the School-wide Writing Team. She has been a grade level-lead, the Site-based Induction Specialist, the Professional Learning Liaison, and a School Council member.

Goldman teaches with unwavering commitment to creating classrooms founded on lovingkindness, empathy and positivity, guiding her students toward intellectual independence, creativity, tenacity and boldness. A steadfast advocate for her students, Goldman elevates and dedicates herself to the unique potential in every child.
