NATIONAL TEACHER OF THE YEAR PROGRAM

CCSSO’s National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) Program is the most prestigious teacher recognition program in the country.

Each year, CCSSO provides a new cohort of State Teachers of the Year with a yearlong, one-of-a-kind professional learning and development experience. Our robust program was designed to increase each inspiring educator’s leadership skills while celebrating their talents and commitment as extraordinary teachers.

From the cohort of State Teachers of the Year, one Teacher is selected to be the National Teacher of the Year. It’s both a year of honor and one of service. The role of the National Teacher of the Year is to bring national public attention on the importance of excellence in teaching.

Released from classroom duties for the year, this educator works full-time to shine a light on the vital role of teachers in this country. The National Teacher of the Year speaks at more than 150 events each year, crossing the country to share wisdom, advocate for students, elevate issues teachers face, and inspire others to join the profession.

It’s a singular role for an educator who has demonstrated excellence in the classroom, an exceptional commitment to their students and profession and skills in public speaking and advocacy.

CCSSO is pleased to honor and celebrate the current National Teacher of the Year
