Biography

Jorge Pulleiro, is a 27-year veteran Spanish teacher who began teaching at the age of 19 in his home country of Argentina. Pulleiro is currently at Wood River Middle School in Hailey, Idaho, where he teaches dual-immersion Spanish language arts. Pulleiro is also the founder and coordinator of the Wood River Middle School / Gredos San Diego exchange program to Madrid, Spain. Pulleiro holds a Master’s degree in educational leadership from Boise State University, a Master’s degree in teacher education from Eastern Oregon University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish translation and interpretation with a minor in Italian from Brigham Young University. Pulleiro has served on various school-improvement teams and as a world language department head. Pulleiro was also honored on several occasions with multiple awards and recognitions, including the White House and the Department of Defense Recognition as a Spotlight Teacher, the Fulbright teacher exchange to Mexico award, and the Loretta Wollet Award for Outstanding Teaching at the K-12 level. Pulleiro believes success in education is about building relationships and has focused on helping Latino students close the achievement gap. Pulleiro has dedicated himself to becoming a life-long learner and educator, and he strives to instill a similar desire in all of the students with whom he works.
