Biography

Susanne Stevenson is currently serving as a fourth-grade teacher at Beeson Elementary School in Dodge City, Kansas. In 2014, she received her Bachelor of Science in education from Emporia State University. Upon accepting the fourth-grade teaching position at Beeson Elementary, she quickly developed a love for working with bilingual and newcomer students. Her passion for promoting equal opportunities and high standards of achievement for all students drove her to further her education in order to better serve diverse populations. In 2019, she earned her Master of Science in education with a concentration in English as a Second Language from Newman University. Stevenson ensures the success of all students by using a variety of techniques, including biography-driven instruction, strategies for English learner, and best practices. During her years in the profession, Stevenson has authored and been awarded several grants that bring diverse and authentic learning experiences to the students in her school. At Beeson Elementary, Stevenson has served as a mentor and a coach to a student intern, a student teacher and four first-year teachers. She has also been a member of the building leadership team and the school improvement team. Stevenson’s responsibilities extend beyond her building, as well. In 2017, she served on the audit team for her district, and she has facilitated professional development opportunities for both Dodge City Public Schools and the Southwest Plains Regional Service Center, which serves districts across western Kansas.
