Biography

Elizabeth Raff is a sixth-grade English language arts and social studies teacher in the Penn Manor School District. Raff teaches at Pequea Elementary School in Willow Street, Pennsylvania. As part of her Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year responsibilities, she serves as a “teacher on assignment” for Penn Manor by stepping into the role of elementary learning facilitator. In this role, she supports teachers in their craft and instructional practices. Raff also develops comprehensive curriculum and leads energizing professional development workshops.

Raff graduated from Messiah University with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and from Penn State University with a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction with a principal certification. She believes that education engages students in the lifelong process of inquiry and critical thinking and that teachers create dynamic spaces where learners examine new perspectives, take creative risks and activate empathy while making the world a better place.
