Biography

Carly Maloney lives by the motto “grow through what you go through.” Maloney’s desire to see the teaching profession grow is the reason she empowers and supports educators as a mentor and coach. Because of her close work with colleagues, she has a strong desire to grow awareness and destigmatize views around mental health for both educators and students. Maloney is also an advocate for the growth of multilingual learners and culturally responsive teaching. Maloney’s motto describes the work she does every day as a teacher and a leader.

Maloney teaches many courses at Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah, including concurrent enrollment English, advanced placement psychology and English language development. Maloney is endorsed in English as a second language, English language, literature and composition, and psychology. During her career, Maloney has taught sophomore traditional and honors English, junior English and digital acceleration courses. She has coached girls’ soccer; has advised sophomore, junior and student body officers; and has served as part of Viewmont High School’s joint staff school and standards-based learning committees. She is a member of her school district’s Teacher Leader Fellowship, the National Education Association and the American Psychological Association’s Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools and has served on the Davis Education Association Board.

Maloney earned her Master of Education in learning experience design and educational technology from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2018 and her Bachelor of Arts in secondary education honors from Idaho State University in 2014.
