Biography:

From an early age, Alexandra (Ali) Snabon-Jun experienced the transformative power of education firsthand. Growing up beside her mother, a devoted teacher, she witnessed how warmth, creativity and care could change lives. Those moments, stapling bulletin boards, cleaning chalkboard erasers and watching students light up under her mother’s guidance, ignited Jun’s lifelong calling to teach.

Jun earned her Master of Music Education from Syracuse University, where she served as a teaching assistant and represented the School of Music on international performance and outreach tours to Brazil, Poland and the Czech Republic. These experiences cemented her commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive music education that celebrates the voices of all learners.

A music educator for more than two decades, Jun has built thriving music programs across multiple schools in Las Vegas, Nevada, including three she built from scratch. At Tyrone Thompson Elementary School, she currently serves more than 900 kindergarten through fifth grade students, leading choirs, instrumental ensembles and full-scale musicals that give every child a place to shine.

Her visionary leadership has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Milken Educator Award (2021), the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes Fellowship (2023) and the DeCastroverde Law Group Teacher Appreciation Award (2024). She proudly serves on the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Cabinet, contributes to the Nevada Portrait of a Learner initiative and mentors emerging educators.

Through her joyful, student-centered teaching and unwavering advocacy, Jun continues to prove that music and education have the power to unite, uplift and inspire communities.
