Graciela Miranda is an educator at Pike High School in the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township (MSDPT), Indiana. She currently services ninth to 12th grade English language learners (ELL). Miranda received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and her master’s degree from Saint Xavier University. Her dedication and outstanding work in the ELL program has spanned over 23 years as demonstrated through receiving National Board Certification, MSDPT Superintendent’s Above and Beyond awards and through successful completion of Pike’s Leadership Academy.
As a first-generation Latina college graduate, she has a clear objective: to create systems that meet the holistic needs for student success. She creates pathways to establish parent-student-school-community connections. Miranda leverages her teaching experiences to provide professional development to support staff.
Outside of the classroom, Miranda is a board member of the Indy Latinx Education Collaborative, which focuses on Latinx educators finding community and receiving professional learning opportunities. As an adjunct professor at Indiana University Indianapolis, she brings current topics and relevant experiences to future educators.
Miranda also supports her home church by volunteering and taking groups on mission trips to Amazona in Para, Brazil.
