Biography:

Holly Witcher, a self-contained special education teacher at Tesnatee Gap Elementary School in White County, Georgia, is a 24-year teaching veteran who educates kindergarten through second grade students. She earned her Bachelor of Science in early childhood education from Georgia College and State University in 2001 and her Master of Education in integrated curriculum with a focus on study in special education from the American College of Education in 2021.

Witcher has dedicated herself to becoming a lifelong learner, continually pursuing endorsements to best meet the needs of the students she serves. She has earned endorsements in Gifted In-Field education, special education and teaching English to speakers of other languages. She is currently working toward her dyslexia endorsement. Additionally, she obtained the Teacher Support Specialist Service Certificate, which equips her with the knowledge to mentor other new teachers.

In addition to teaching in traditional public schools, Witcher also taught online for 10 years at Georgia Cyber Academy. There, she served as a lead teacher for four years and as elementary school assistant administrator of special programs for four years. She was named Teacher of the Year at Peek’s Chapel Elementary in Rockdale County in 2006 and District Teacher of the Year in White County in 2023.

Witcher is a firm believer that parents, teachers, and community members are vital to a student’s success. She advocates for collaboration between all parties, with her message, “You matter,” emphasizing the important role that everyone plays.
