Laron Johnson teaches Holocaust, economics and maximizing personal development for grades 9-12 at Rigby High School in Rigby, Idaho. He received a Bachelor of Science in secondary education with a social studies composite from Utah State University in 1995. Johnson was hired by the Jefferson School District #251 in Rigby and has been a part of the community for the past 29 years.
Johnson absolutely loves his career choice and believes that teaching youth is a lifelong calling. He has collaborated with teachers from local, state, national and international levels throughout his career. He has received numerous awards and fellowships and has been selected on multiple occasions for the highest level of professional development. Although education is his passion, Johnson also has completed a 25-year stint with the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service in wildland fire operations.
When he is not working, Johnson can be found ice fishing in one of Idaho’s many waters or backpacking and hiking throughout the Intermountain West. Johnson travels extensively with his family and has been to all 50 states and all 63 U.S. National Parks, as well as venturing to five of the seven continents.
Johnson's family consists of his wife Cathy, who teaches at Midway Elementary School in Menan; his son Dalton, who works for the Natural Resource Conservation Service; and his daughter Allie, who is a first-year teacher at Cottonwood Elementary in Rigby.
