Lindsey Wilson is a dedicated seventh grade science and social studies teacher at Bennington Middle School in Bennington, Nebraska. She holds an associate’s degree from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, a Bachelor of Science with dual endorsements in elementary and middle-level education and a minor in art education from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Master of Science in elementary and secondary administration from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
Among Wilson’s achievements are multiple school teacher of the year awards, the prestigious Alice Buffett Award for teachers in the Omaha Metropolitan area, and her recent recognition as the 2025 Nebraska Teacher of the Year. She has served as an instructional coach and mentor and provided professional development both at the district level and for local universities, extending her expertise to support and guide other educators. Between her two districts, Wilson has helped secure nearly $350,000 in grant funding to support various educational initiatives, including a $300,000 grant to establish the first middle-level zoo career academy for the Omaha Public Schools.
Wilson’s passion for supporting student success has enhanced educational opportunities across eastern Nebraska. She also organized one of the largest science fair teams in the state and recently formed a science researchers team for Bennington Public Schools, with all team members placing in the top three in their categories and two winning at the state level. Wilson’s approach centers on engaging students through real-world, inquiry-based learning, offering hands-on projects that encourage collaborative exploration of scientific concepts.
