Biography:

Megan Johnson is an experienced educator with 18 years of teaching in upper elementary classrooms. She currently teaches fourth grade at Central Elementary School in Plainfield, Indiana.

Known throughout her district as a strong instructional leader, Johnson is respected by colleagues, families and the broader community for her dedication to student growth and her joyful, relationship-centered approach to learning. Her teaching consistently reflects a commitment to academic excellence, purposeful collaboration and meaningful connections with both local and global communities.

Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Ball State University and a Master of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. Additionally, she has earned an early literacy endorsement, reflecting her knowledge and training in the science of reading.

Since 2022, she has led efforts in her building to implement evidence-based reading and writing practices, supporting both students and colleagues in aligning instruction with the latest research in the science of reading. Her leadership in this area has helped shape a stronger, more intentional approach to literacy instruction.

In her classroom, Johnson fosters critical thinking through active, student-centered learning that connects classroom inquiry to real-world issues. She strives to inspire curiosity, build confidence and equip her students with the skills they need to collaborate, reflect and contribute meaningfully, both in school and in life.
