Rachel Marlow is a music teacher at Central Elementary in the Olathe Public Schools in Olathe, Kansas. With a passion for her students, Marlow teaches in a variety of settings and engages with learners of diverse ages and abilities, including self-contained classrooms, select ensembles and educational settings from preschool through high school. Her background encompasses teaching special education, general music, vocal music and instrumental music.
Marlow emphasizes the importance of inclusion and connection, drawing from her personal experiences. Overcoming her own hearing impairment, Marlow has achieved success and is dedicated to creating a supportive and accessible classroom for all students. She values every student's participation as a means for them to express their learning and amplify their voices through music.
Marlow's journey with inclusive education has shaped her unique perspective, resilience and unwavering commitment to this cause. Before joining the faculty in the Olathe Public Schools, Marlow taught for five years at a private school. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Oklahoma City University and a master’s degree in special education from MidAmerica Nazarene University. She lives in Olathe, Kansas, with her husband Jered and daughter Atalie, and she enjoys reading, singing, playing piano and volleyball.
