Biography:

Cherise C. Davis is a third grade educator at Juanita Gardine PreK–8 School in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. With 12 years of teaching experience, she holds Professional Educator Class I certifications in elementary and early childhood education. Davis earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education with a concentration in social sciences from the University of the Virgin Islands.

Throughout her career, Davis has been recognized for her excellence in teaching and leadership. She was named the Juanita Gardine PreK–8 School Teacher of the Year in both 2022 and 2024 and the 2024–2025 St. Croix District Teacher of the Year.

Beyond the classroom, Davis serves on several school committees, including the Virgin Islands History Month Committee, Red Ribbon Week Committee, Festival Committee and School Improvement Team. She also leads Girl Scout Troop 44610, where she provides opportunities for girls to develop leadership skills and engage in community service.

Through her literacy initiative, Little Literacy Leaders: Growing Literacy, Growing Leaders, Davis promotes early literacy, student voice and community engagement. Her teaching philosophy centers on cultivating curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of learning, empowering students to see themselves as capable, compassionate leaders within their community and beyond.
