Kortney Douma is a dedicated family and consumer science teacher at Belgrade High School in Belgrade, Montana. With a strong passion for education and career readiness, Douma brings more than a decade of experience in both classroom instruction and industry-aligned programming.
Douma earned her Master of Science in family and consumer science from Montana State University (MSU) in Bozeman. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education (grades K–8) with a family and consumer science teaching minor and a reading endorsement from MSU.
Douma serves as a dual enrollment instructor for MSU and Gallatin College, teaching Introduction to Hospitality Management and Safety and Sanitation. She is a certified ServSafe instructor and proctor, helping students earn nationally recognized food safety credentials. In collaboration with the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, she helped develop a Culinary Arts Pre-Apprenticeship Program, providing students with direct pathways into the workforce through structured hands-on training and industry partnerships.
Since 2019, Douma has also served as a ProStart Advisor, mentoring culinary arts and restaurant management teams. Under her leadership, her teams have won first place at the Montana ProStart Invitational four consecutive times and have represented the state at the National ProStart Invitational for the past three years.
Known for her commitment to student success and real-world learning, Douma continues to strengthen culinary and hospitality education in Montana through innovative programming and community engagement.
